SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS

Sunday is the Solemnity of All Saints. Mass times follow the normal Sunday schedule.
Monday, November 2nd is the Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed, also known as All Soul’s Day. Masses are at 8:00am, 12:00pm, and 6:00pm (in Latin). Confession will be available at 7:30pm.  We are encouraged to pray for the faithful departed throughout November, but especially during the All Souls Octave. BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE

One way to honor deceased family, friends and loved ones is to add their names to our Book of Remembrance which can be found in the Commons..

SPECIAL GOLD ENVELOPES

As we approach Thanksgiving, we continue to give thanks for our parishioners and visitors. We also invite you to give thanks to Holy Comforter with the special gold envelopes available in the Commons. THANK YOU for your support and prayers!

THE ROSARY

Please join us in praying the Rosary BEFORE each weekend Mass (except the 11:00am, which is directly AFTER Mass). Until November 3rd, we will pray specifically for the rejection of the extreme abortion amendment in Virginia.

TUESDAY IS ELECTION DAY

This Tuesday is Election Day. Faithful Catholics are encouraged to re-read Bishop Knestout’s pastoral letter and the two Virginia bishop’s joint statement, to form their consciences, and to vote “No” in response to the first two constitutional amendments on the ballot. Encourage your Catholic friends and family to vote on November 3 if they have not already done so. Review and share the information we have published on the Pro-Life Action of Holy Comforter’s website.

ADULT EDUCATION

The Adult Education ministry is offering a reading group focusing on Pope Leo's recent encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas. The encyclical addresses many of the most pressing concerns of our day, especially the challenges posed by AI and related technologies. The first meeting is Sunday, November 8th at 12:30pm in the lower level. Questions? Contact Beth Frazier for details (see Bulletin).

EUCHARISTIC MIRACLES

Please join us for a special presentation on Eucharistic miracles on Sunday, November 15th at 12:30pm in the lower level.  Mike Pietrzyk will present the many incredible miracles the Lord has gifted the Church.

Middle School and High School Youth Groups

We meet every Third Thursday, 6:00pm-9:00pm at Holy Comforter.  All youth in grades 6-12 are welcome. Come for Mass, Holy Hour, and/or fellowship and catechesis. FIAT

Registration for Fiat closes Tuesday, November 3 at 12:00noon. Fiat Days will be December 4-6, 2026 at Roslyn Retreat Center in Richmond and is open to all 9th-12th grade girls. It costs $200 for the weekend retreat, which covers overnight accommodations, meals, journal, t-shirt, and all programming.

Steubenville Youth Conference is coming up!

Holy Comforter will be taking a group to the July 16-18 event at Franciscan University located in Steubenville, Ohio. To secure a spot, register by November 23rd.  Please note - we fill ALL our spots and the event will sell out. Who can attend? HAITI

Father Asmith Servil, pastor of our twin parish, concluded the final Mass of his 12 day visit this past Sunday. His time with our Tri‑Parish community was deeply appreciated. His visit began at St. Thomas Aquinas with the Vigil Mass and the Hope for Haiti Auction/Dinner. Thank you to all who attended or donated the Hope for Haiti Auction / Dinner, and to our volunteers, the Knights of Columbus, and especially Dr. Sanusi and his family. We are about 30% toward the $30,000 match, now extended through 31 December.  Godspeed, Father Asmith.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY, HOLY TRINITY CONFERENCE

Praying For The Dead and Gaining Indulgences During November

An indulgence, applicable only to the Souls in Purgatory, is granted to the faithful, who devoutly visit a cemetery and pray, even if only mentally, for the departed. The indulgence is plenary each day from November 1-8; on other days of the year it is only a partial indulgence. The plenary indulgence is earned under the usual conditions: sacramental confession (within 20 days before or after), one Eucharistic Communion for each visit (20 days before or after), and prayer for the Pope's intentions (usually one Our Father and the Creed or Hail Mary, prayed each visit) while detached from sin.
